Find your Square API key

TapRev reads your Square sales with a access token you make in Square. It is kept in your iPhone’s Keychain and sent only to Square; no TapRev server ever sees it.
Square has no read-only access token, so it allows more than TapRev asks of it. TapRev only reads with it: the app has no code that writes to a platform, and you can revoke it in Square at any time.
Make the access token
- Go to developer.squareup.com and sign in with your Square account
- Open Applications and create one (any name; skip the questions)
- In Credentials, switch the top toggle to Production (or leave it on Sandbox for test data)
- Copy the access token (starts with EAAA)
- Open TapRev, tap Add Platform, choose Square and paste it
Instant Alerts (Pro)
Free sale alerts arrive when iOS lets the app check, from 15 minutes to a few hours apart. With Pro, Square wakes your phone within seconds of a sale through a link you paste into Square. In TapRev, open Settings → Notifications and tap Square under Instant Alerts to copy its link, then:
- Go to developer.squareup.com > your application > Webhooks
- Switch the top toggle to Production, then Add subscription
- Paste the link as the Notification URL
- Select the events listed below and save
The events to select
payment.createdpayment.updatedrefund.createdrefund.updateddispute.createdinvoice.payment_madesubscription.createdsubscription.updated
The link only wakes your phone. Whatever Square sends with it passes through the relay unread, and the phone then checks Square with its own key (privacy policy).
Take the key back
Revoke the access token in Square and TapRev can no longer read anything from the next sync on. In the app, Settings → Delete All Data removes every key from the Keychain.
